This 6-day Bhutan itinerary begins with arrival at Bagdogra and transfer to Phuentsholing. After securing permits, travel to Thimphu to explore its cultural landmarks. Enjoy an excursion to Punakha, visiting Dochu La Pass and Punakha Dzong. Continue to Paro via Thimphu sightseeing including Buddha Point and Memorial Chorten. In Paro, explore Rinpung Dzong, Kichu Lhakhang, and optionally hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The tour concludes with a scenic return drive to Bagdogra, leaving you with unforgettable experiences of Bhutan’s natural and spiritual beauty.

Packages Itinerary (Day Wise) :
Day 01 : Arrival at Bagdogra – Transfer to Phuentsholing (170 kms / 5 hrs.)

Upon your arrival at Bagdogra Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to Phuentsholing, the gateway to Bhutan. The drive takes you through the beautiful plains of West Bengal before entering the serene foothills of the Himalayas.

After a scenic 5-hour journey, arrive in Phuentsholing, a bustling border town nestled at the southern base of Bhutan. Check in at your pre-booked hotel and spend the evening at leisure. You may explore the local markets or relax after your journey.

Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.

Day 02 : Phuentsholing to Thimphu (172 km / 6 hours)

After breakfast, visit the Phuentsholing Immigration Office to obtain your Bhutan Entry Permit (for Indian nationals). Once permits are issued, begin your picturesque drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, located at an altitude of 2,334 meters.

En route, enjoy the stunning views of the lush valleys, scenic mountains, and waterfalls. Stop for photo opportunities at notable landmarks such as the Tala Dam (top view) and waterfalls cascading through the hills.

Upon arrival in Thimphu, check in to your hotel and unwind. The rest of the evening is at your disposal to relax or take a casual stroll around the vibrant local streets.

Day 03 : Excursion to Punakha – Return to Thimphu (90kms / 3hrs)

After an early breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion to Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan. The route offers panoramic views of the Himalayas and Bhutanese countryside.

En route, stop at:

  1. Dochu La Pass (3,088 m) – Known for its 108 memorial chortens and magnificent views of the Eastern Himalayas.

  2. Chhimi Lhakhang – Also called the Fertility Temple, built in honor of Divine Madman Drukpa Kunley.

  3. Punakha Dzong – A majestic fortress located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan.

  4. Punakha Suspension Bridge – One of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan, offering an exhilarating experience over the river.

In the evening, return to Thimphu.

Day 04 : Thimphu Sightseeing – Transfer to Paro (60 km / 2 hours)

After breakfast, begin your sightseeing tour of Thimphu, exploring the cultural and spiritual heart of Bhutan. Key attractions include:

  • Durga/Shiva Temple – A peaceful place of worship.

  • Buddha Dordenma (Buddha Point) – A massive golden statue of Lord Buddha overlooking the valley.

  • Coronation Park – A riverside park ideal for a peaceful stroll.

  • Takin Reserve (Motithang Zoo) – Home to the Takin, Bhutan’s national animal.

  • Memorial Chorten – Built in memory of Bhutan’s third king.

  • Folk Heritage Museum – Depicting traditional rural Bhutanese life.

  • National Institute for Zorig Chusum – Commonly known as the School of Arts & Crafts.

After sightseeing, proceed to Paro, one of the most scenic towns in Bhutan. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel.

Day 05 : Paro Sightseeing OR Optional Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and begin your return journey to Bagdogra Airport. The drive will take approximately 8 hours, passing through the scenic landscapes of Bhutan and back into India.

Bid farewell to the Land of the Thunder Dragon, carrying with you memories of peaceful monasteries, vibrant culture, and the tranquil Himalayan countryside.
